How to Sync a New iTouch
- 1). Insert the dock connector end of the cable into the bottom of the iTouch, and insert the USB end of the cable into the computer's USB port. ITunes launches when the iTouch is detected by your computer.
- 2). Click the iTouch's name in the iTunes side window underneath "Devices," and click "Info" in the iTunes window to set up your mail, contacts and calendars on the device. As of April 2011, the Info mail settings support synchronization between Apple mail, Microsoft Outlook 2003 through 2010 and Outlook Express. The calendar settings supports Microsoft Outlook 2003 through 2010, and iCal for Macintosh computers. The contacts settings supports Yahoo, Mac OS X Address Book, Google, Outlook, Windows Contacts and Windows Address Book.
- 3). Click the "Apps" tab, and click "Automatically sync new apps" to transfer your apps between iTunes and the iTouch. Through automatic synchronization any accidentally deleted application can be restored to the iTouch if it was synced to iTunes prior to the deletion.
- 4). Click the "Music," "Movies" and "TV Shows" tabs to add all or specific content to the iTouch. While selecting all content is useful for ensuring you're never without a song or video, this option takes up more space on the device by transferring your entire library to the iTouch.
- 5). Click the "Podcasts," "iTunes U" and "Books" tabs to synchronize media currently stored in iTunes to the iTouch. The iTouch will also transfer purchases from the device to the iTunes when it is connected via USB cable.
- 6). Click "Sync" in the lower right corner to apply the sync preferences and begin the content transfer. The iTouch automatically disconnects from the computer once the sync process is complete.
