Do You Hate Your Day Job Enough?
As I am writing this article I am just about 2 hours out from having to go and work at my day job and I must admit that I am dreading it.
Even though I am only working for five hours, and the job is pretty crusty, I just stand there and sell lotto tickets (its a news agency/chemist and today I am working in the news agency section where you can buy lotto), I am still dreading it because it is not doing what I love.
But there is something I like about this dread.
The dread to get up everyday and have to go to work 9-5 in a job that I hate pushes me towards earning more money online doing what I love (writing and communicating).
The dread actually drives me forward and drives me towards my dream.
Who would have thought that dread and hate could ever be a good thing.
But you actually need to dread and hate your job enough so that you will do something about it and make a change? Do you hate your job enough? A friend of mine works 60 hours per week in a job that she hates, but she obviously doesn't hate it enough because she is still doing it.
If you hate your job, but continue to work there and not pursue your dreams then you obviously don't hate your job enough and you need to start hating it a little bit more.
We are funny creatures us humans, instead of pursuing pleasure we actually live to avoid pain.
Often getting a new job or chasing your dream appears more painful and hard than just staying in your current role.
So in order to combat this you need to make your current job so painful that pursuing your dreams seems like the less painful option, because then and only then will you pursue it.
See for me to work 9-5 everyday in a job that I hate is extremely painful, so I try my best to avoid that and i do so by working online.
So...
do you hate your job enough? Just some food for thought
