How to Make a Victorian Lace Cuff
- 1). Measure your wrist and cut a piece of fleece fabric that is 1 1/2 times the circumference of your wrist. A good width for the fleece fabric would be 2 1/2 inches wide.
- 2). Sew a piece of lace along one side of the fabric. The side you are stitching the lace to will become the back side of your cuff, the side that will be touching your wrist. For added fullness, cut a piece of lace that is 1 1/2 times the length of your fabric, gathering the lace as you sew. If you aren't sure how to gather, pin the lace to the fleece, making pleats every inch or so to ensure the lace will fit on the fleece strip. Adjust as needed before sewing.
- 3). Sew a button onto one end of the fabric strip. Sew a small loop of elastic onto the the other end. Put the button on the front side of your fabric strip and the elastic on the back side of the fabric strip. The back side will be the side that has the lace attached to the fleece. Using the stitched side as the back side of your bracelet means the stitches you used to attach the lace will be hidden from view.
- 4). Embellish the fabric cuff with additional lace or beads if desired.
