Consumer, Voter and Citizen Confidence Considered
A recent study showed that the president's approval ratings have dropped significantly, and while this is to be expected because all presidents have drops in approval rating after the election and during their first year in office it still comes at a bad time considering we're in the middle of a recession.
We need trust in our government, and it doesn't help that the Congressional confidence level is in the proverbial toilet as well.
With citizen, taxpayer, and voter confidence and such at an all time low it is going to be hard to work together to solve the problems of our time.
We live in a complex civilization and a rapidly changing society and thus, we need to all work together.
They say that consumer confidence accounts for about 33% of our GDP's economic performance.
When consumers feel confident they spend money, and they invest.
When they don't feel confident they stop spending and the wheels of commerce come to a grinding halt.
Part of the problem we have in the United States right now is a confidence problem, not necessarily a problem of civilization collapse.
We have far too many people proclaiming doom and gloom in the stock market, in our nation's leaders, and in our overall economy.
This certainly doesn't help the issue and it makes things tough for a rapid recovery.
Small businessmen are not going to invest in capital expenditures to expand their businesses, or hire more people to expand until they are confident that the economy is turning around and they will know that more consumers come in to purchase their goods and services.
Confidence and trust are huge issues and without them we really don't have a society, and our civilization can never be as great as we had intended.
Please consider all this.
