    • 1). Place the 2-by-4s on a work table. Lay the two 60-inch pieces so that the long sides are touching. Measure from one end and make marks at 1-1/2, 15-1/4, 31-1/4 and 47-1/4 inches. Draw an "X" at 16, 32 and 48 inches.

    • 2). Lay the speed square on each of the marks and draw a line across the width of both 60-inch pieces of lumber. These marks indicate where the 2-by-4-by-39-inch pieces of lumber (studs) will be secured to the 60-inch pieces.

    • 3). Separate the two 60-inch pieces enough to place the 39-inch pieces between them. Secure the 39-inch pieces (studs) on the "X" side of the lines and at each end of the 60-inch pieces with the 3-inch drywall screws. Place the 60-by-42-by-3/4-inch plywood on the frame and secure it to the frame with 4d (1-1/2-inch) finish nails.

    • 4). Place the bar top upside down on the work table and set the assembly from Step 3 on it. Position the assembly 2 inches from one of the long edges of the bar top. Secure it to the top with the 2-1/2-inch drywall screws.

    • 5). Turn the bar top with assembly attached upright and position it to be secured to the kitchen cabinet. Secure it to the cabinet through the back of the cabinet and into the 39-inch studs in the raised bar top assembly. Secure the 60-by-42-by-3/4-inch plywood to the front of the raised bar assembly with the 4d (1-1/2-inch) finish nails.

    • 6). Set the 1-by-6-by-42-inch bullnose lumber on the work table, measure from one end and make a mark every 4 inches. Place the speed square on each of the marks and draw a faint line across the width of the lumber.

    • 7). Drill three pilot holes on each line, one in the center and the other two 1 inch from each of the edges with the 1/16-inch drill bit. Secure the bullnose lumber to the exposed end of the assembly with the bullnose facing the same side as the bar top overhang. Drive a 4d (1-1/2-inch) finish nail into each pilot hole and countersink the nails with the nail set.
