Two drugstore available products also filled me with hope.
Two products I tried...

PanOxyl Bar 10 contains 10% Benzoyl peroxide, an ingredient that has been touted to clear skin blemishes and block future breakouts.
Additionally the bar promises to reduce the occurrence of blackheads and oily skin, of which I have plenty.
2.
Murad Acne Complex 3-step skin care system included a Clarifying Cleanser, Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel and Lotion.
The products contained salicylic acid, green tea extract, menthol, retinol and glycolic acid.
That's a pretty powerful punch! How did these two adult acne treatments fair for people with our problem? Lets see...
Acid trip Splashing 10% Benzoyl peroxide on your face is safe but can cause extreme irritation.
Clinical studies have shown that 2.
5% is just as effective as 5% and 10%.
So a tip is to apply the PanOxyl bar very mildly to the face but do it several times to allow for the acid to penetrate the skin.
You will find that your results will look promising for the first week then degrade the second week.
Long term use of this bar has resulted in redness to the skin for long periods of time.
Acid Trip part deux When moving on to a new product it is wise to give your skin a break from the previous product.
I recommend two weeks.
The salicylic acid in the Murad Acne Complex was just as irritating at first but the exfoliating gel and lotion helped reduce the redness.

And the results are in Over a 3 month period I found that both products made my acne worse than it originally was before administering the products.
Both caused redness over long periods of time but the Murad Acne Complex was way better at reducing oily skin -- is flaking skin any better?
