How to Install a CD Player in a Saturn Sl2
- 1). Pull the hood release lever under the dashboard on the driver's side of the Saturn.
- 2). Loosen the negative battery cable clamp with a 10 mm wrench and remove the cable from the negative battery terminal.
- 3). Push the center of the pin connectors on the center console with a small, Phillips head screwdriver. Remove the connectors on either side of the center panel.
- 4). Grab the center console panel on both sides and slide it away from the Saturn's dashboard. Remove the wiring connected to the back of the panel and set the panel aside.
- 5). Remove the two bolts at the top of the stereo assembly with a 7 mm socket and ratchet.
- 6). Slide the stereo from the vehicle's stereo mounting dock far enough to access the wiring connected to the rear panel of the unit.
- 7). Unplug the stereo wiring from the outlets on the back of the radio. Disconnect the black antenna cable from the rear panel of the deck.
- 8). Plug the stereo wiring into the leads of the wiring harness adapter. Connect the wiring harness adapter leads into the outlets on the rear panel of the new CD player.
- 9). Plug the Saturn's antenna cable into the GM antenna cable adapter. Plug the adapter into the FM antenna input on the back of the CD player.

Slide the new CD player into the slot of the Saturn's stereo mounting bracket. - 11
Place the GM stereo faceplate adapter onto the front of the stereo mounting bracket. Screw in the two 7 mm bolt screws that were removed earlier. - 12
Plug the dashboard electrical wiring connectors into the outlets on the back of the center console dash panel. - 13
Replace the center console panel against the lower section of the dashboard. Replace the two pin connectors on the side of the panel. - 14
Replace the negative battery cable onto the negative battery terminal lead post. Tighten the cable's clamp onto the post with the wrench. Close the Saturn's hood.
