    • 1). Prepare the caulk. Cut the spout of the thermoplastic caulk at a 90 degree angle with a utility knife.

    • 2). Insert the thermoplastic caulk tube into the caulking gun. Prime the caulk by gently squeezing on the trigger until a small amount of caulk comes out.

    • 3). Determine the appropriate areas for the caulk. The caulk should be applied in the space between the siding and the trim of the house. Also, in between the siding and the space around any windows. Canexel siding should be installed so that there is a 3/16 inch space between the siding and the trim and windows.

    • 4). Apply the caulk. Apply the caulk at a 90 degree angle to the joint and firmly press the caulking gun trigger. Continuously pull for an even flow of caulk. Steadily draw the caulk along the joint until it is filled. Do not smooth the caulk, instead make sure that the bead of caulk is convex.
