How to Know When It"s Time to Quit
Here are some simple ideas to consider whenever you are thinking of quitting anything.
These rules will apply whether you are considering quitting a job, relationship, practice, addiction, lifestyle...
etc.
1) Make two lists: the good and the bad and see which one is longer.
2) What are the people who love you saying - what would you be saying to someone you love if they were in the situation you're in now? 3) Imagine your life without this thing - if you would feel better than you do now that is an important indication that it's time to quit.
4) Does doing this thing seem to get you into trouble, or have the potential to cause problems in your life? 5) Does this thing cause you to disappear from your friends, family, work, or other activities that are healthy and bring you happiness.
6) Does it cause you to feel shame or guilt? Would not doing it bring freedom or relief? 7) Does this thing cause you to experience physical or emotional pain? 8) Do you keep doing it because of the fear of not doing it? Remember that fear means false evidence appearing real.
9) If you let go of everything but what your heart knows to be true - what are you really supposed to do? and finally...
10) Does it make you happy? Isn't there enough suffering in the world? We don't have to do things that cause us to suffer.
Besides, if you've read this you probably already know what to do.
Have heart! Dive into your life and trust that Spirit is there to lead you into Joyful Wholeness.
