The Maximum Size SD Card for an HTC Touch Viva
- The Secure Digital standard classifies its card capacities with numbers and titles, a system that may cause confusion among users unfamiliar with the technology. MicroSD 2.0 is the same as MicroSD High Capacity. Any SD card with a capacity of 4GB or higher is considered SDHC.
- The Touch Viva's card slot is backward compatible. This means that it can use microSD 1.0 and microSD 2.0 cards. This opens up the range of memory sizes available to the phone. Sizes include 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32 GB. Higher-capacity microSD cards are available. However, these are version 3.0, microSDXC cards. The Touch Viva cannot use these cards. However, cards compatible with the Touch Viva can share data with microSDXC devices.
- With a compatible card installed, the Touch Viva can use the added memory to store photos, music, files and backups of its data. Backups may included the phone's contacts and calendar. The card may also be removed and inserted in other devices such as digital cameras, music players or other phones with compatible slots.
- MicroSD 2.0 cards are not compatible with MicroSD 1.0 or 1.1 devices. Users intending to share data saved to the microSD card from the Touch Viva with a MicroSD 1.0 or 1.1 device must use a 1.0 or 1.1 card at the outset.
