How to Install a Rubber Roof on a Shed
- 1). Clean the rooftop with soap and water, or use a reputable roof cleaner such as Jomax by Zinsser. Rinse away any loose debris or residue before you begin installation.
- 2). Lay out the roll of EPDM rubber for 30 minutes before use. This allows the material to relax and flatten, which will make it more manageable.
- 3). Measure the surface area of the roof and use scissors to cut sections of the rubber to size.
- 4). Hold the sheets of rubber against the roof to make sure you have prepared the right amount. Stir the EPDM adhesive with a paintbrush for five minutes, then evenly apply a layer to the back of the rubber.
- 5). Apply adhesive to the surface of the roof, then bond the rubber to it. Eliminate any air bubbles or wrinkles with a paint roller.
- 6). Use a towel to wipe away any extra adhesive at the seams between each section of rubber. Apply EPDM seam tape to seal the sheets together.
