It was not even half a year before the N97 was updated, diminished and was sent out on the market.
While we like the update, we cannot help but wonder why it was not like this from the beginning.
When the N97 was announced it was a bit of a monster.
Not at all a monster in the same way as the N95 was when it was announced in late 2006, but still pretty well-developed.
When it was released three quarters later, it was not really the same monsters we met with earlier, this because the competitors had time to move forward also.
As a typewriter, we chose instead the HTC Touch Pro 2, in the case of multi-task operating system, we instead look at the HTC Magic.
N97 felt although very competent, but it was too little, too late.
Nokia N97 Mini Fairly soon after the N97 was released it lashed the N97 Mini.
Smaller, cheaper, and according to Nokia itself more suited to the social generation than the "technology leaders" which N97 was for.
Mini is smaller; the screen has shrunk to 3.
2 inches from 3.
5.
Mini feels really solid and well built, not as an expensive plastic toy.
The keyboard is very comfortable and although the screen has shrunken the size of the battery has gone down too, resulting in a significantly lower uptime.
Further two disadvantages are that the memory strangled from 32 gigabyte to 8 gigabyte and the FM transmitter has been picked off.
N97 Mini is what N97 should have been from the beginning.
Now it feels a little too late given how the rest of the market progressed.
