How to Make a Wooden CD Rack
- 1). Place seven of the eight pieces of lumber on a worktable. Measure from one end and make marks at 5-5/8 and 6-3/8 inches. Put the framing square on the marks and draw lines across the width of the lumber.
- 2). Drill two pilot holes 1 inch from the edges and in the center between the lines. Drill countersink holes on top of the pilot holes. Do not drill them deeper than 3/8 inch.
- 3). Run a bead of glue on the edge of one of the pieces of lumber. Secure it to another piece through the pilot holes with drywall screws to create a T shape. Secure the eighth piece of lumber to the last one. You should have four T-shaped shelves.
- 4). Apply glue to the wood on the opposite side of the pilot holes. Secure the four T's to each other through the pilot holes with drywall screws. The T with the leg that has no pilot holes in it is the top of the CD rack.
- 5). Install the rack straight up and down or at an angle. Most picture-hanging kits will do the job.
