How to Make Your Own Hand Cream Recipe
- 1). In a microwave safe bowl, add 1 ounce of cocoa butter, and 1 ounce of beeswax. Microwave these on 50% power for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted. Alternatively, you may use a double boiler.
- 2). Stir in 4 tablespoons of almond oil. You may substitute another oil, such as jojoba, avocado, or macadamia nut oil if preferred. Do not use olive oil, since that particular oil goes rancid fairly quickly.
- 3). Add 10 drops of evening primrose oil. This can generally be obtained at the pharmacy.
If you can't find liquid evening primrose oil, you can use capsules. In that case, you will need to puncture the capsules and squeeze the oil out. Discard the capsule casing. - 4). Now, here's the creative part. Add 10 drops of essential oil to create your own, unique hand cream recipe.
You may use any essential oil which is safe for use on the body. A few recommended oils include rose, lavender, patchouli, neroli, geranium, lemon verbena, or jasmine. Feel free to experiment with scent combinations. - 5). If you would like a thinner lotion, add more almond oil or oil substitute. For a thicker cream, you may use slightly less almond oil.
- 6). Store this hand cream in a sealed container. Because it uses no preservatives, it should be used within a few weeks for best results.
