How do I Make a Subfloor Slant Towards a Floor Drain?
- 1). Examine the floor joists to determine if they are level. The best way to do this is to remove the subfloor and see if the floor joists are level. Place the level on the joists and see if they have a natural slant toward the drain.
- 2). To cause a slant toward the drain, plane the floor joists toward the drain. Remember to take more off of the joist the closer you get to the drain. You do not want the slant to be more than 1/4 of an inch every 10 feet.
- 3). Screw the subfloor back down to the floor joists. Seal all of the gaps around the drain and the subfloor with the silicon. This will eliminate water from entering the wood.
