LifeScan Control Test Directions
- 1). Press the blue power button on the front of the meter to turn it on. Compare the code number on the display screen to your bottle of test strips. If the numbers do not match, press the green "C" button on the top-right corner of the meter to advance one number at a time until the codes match.
- 2). Compare the unused dot color on the test strip with the color on the test strip bottle. The colors should match to verify that the test strip is good.
- 3). Shake the control solution bottle to mix the ingredients thoroughly. Open the cap and dispense one drop of the control solution onto the pink test square on the test strip.
- 4). Turn the test strip over and verify that the confirmation dot is completely blue. Insert the test strip into the glucometer with the confirmation dot facing down. Press the test strip as far into the meter as it will go. A flashing clock symbol counts down the seconds while the meter is reading the results.
- 5). Press the "C" button to mark these results as a control solution test when the reading displays. This will keep the results separated from your testing results and will not add them into your accumulated blood glucose averages.
- 6). Compare the reading on the digital display with the control range on your test strip bottle. The reading should fall within the range printed on the bottle to indicate that your meter and test strips are both working correctly. If the reading falls outside the range, check the expiration date on the test strips and control solution. Obtain new strips and solution that are not expired and repeat the test.
