Hydraulic Press Standards
- Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) issues European standards for equipment and machinery. DIN Standard EN 693 defines the safety standards for hydraulic presses. EN 12622 gives the safety standards for hydraulic press brakes.
- The American National Standards Institute issues machinery and equipment standards for the U.S. ANSI B11.2 gives the ANSI standards for hydraulic power presses which includes requirements for guarding to prevent accidental contact with moving parts of a hydraulic press. This ANSI standard also requires guards to be in place to prevent users from being struck by anything sent flying by the hydraulic press during its operation like debris or scrap metal.
- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issues safety regulations for the U.S. as part of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). CFR 1910-29-217 is the OSHA standard for guarding mechanical presses. This regulation is used as a reference for machine guards, including hydraulic presses.
