    • 1). Measure out four large squares, one on each side of the box. The squares should be in the middle of each side, 2 inches in from each side. Remove the top flaps of the box as well, but leave the bottom intact.

    • 2). Cut two sheets of the Bristol board into 2-inch strips and glue them to the inside of the box, producing a clean white lining.

    • 3). Place the third sheet of Bristol board inside the box to create the backdrop for your tent. Cut the sheet so that its width is the same as the box and slide it into the box so that it curves at the bottom. One of the squares on the side of the box should look in on your backdrop. This is where you will place an object to be photographed as well as angle your camera.

    • 4). Cover the squares on the side of the box with pieces of the muslin fabric, save for the side facing the backdrop. Use the masking tape to secure the fabric so that you may remove the fabric and experiment with different shades of fabric to produce different lighting effects.

    • 5). Cut a large piece of muslin fabric and tape it to the top of the light tent. Angle the lighting fixture over the top of the box. A clamp-on work light or a work desk lamp work fine for lighting fixtures and most have an angled neck that may be bent into various positions. A compact, 90-watt florescent bulb is also the ideal bulb to use as it will produce a nice, white light ideal for a light tent.
