How to Sharpen a Pocket Knife Quickly

    • 1). Lay a sharpening stone on a flat, secure surface. Rub just enough water on the stone to thoroughly moisten the surface. If there appears to be excess water, tilt the stone sideways and let the water drip off.

    • 2). Lay the knife blade flat on the stone with the pointed end facing away from you.

    • 3). Tilt the knife slightly so the angle of the sharp side of the blade lays flat on the stone.

    • 4). Pull the knife toward you while still pressing down on it. Repeat this process until the blade begins to feel sharp to the touch. Depending on how dull the blade was, it could take anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes.

    • 5). Flip the blade over and sharpen the other side until it is sharp enough for your liking. The sharpening time for the second side is generally shorter than the first side.
