    Guide Review - Fallscaping

Many people focus their attentions on their landscapes in spring and summer, thinking that fall must bring an end to the gardening season. In Fallscaping, the authors succeed in showing the many different plants that will extend your season longer than you would expect.

The first section is called "The Key Players". Different examples of trees, shrubs, vines and flowers are shown through many vibrant photographs. Discussions about blooms, foliage, and seed heads are presented.

Next is "Perfect Partners For Fall". Different combinations are presented that enhance the overall beauty. Who would have thought that Japanese beautyberry, with bright magenta berries, and the tan tones of Arkansas bluestar could go together?

"Putting it All Together" is next. The authors give 10 complete garden plans, focusing on different situations such as attracting birds and shady spots.

Finally, a "Fall Garden Care Primer" is given, which presents key techniques and recommendations for fall gardening and winter preparation.

Interspersed throughout the book are Fall Techniques that gave tips on "Handling Cold-Tender Plants" and "Dividing Perennials", as well as 36 other techniques.

If you are wishing that your garden would stay beautiful after August, this is the book for you! I would highly recommend it for the pictures alone, not to mention the treasure trove of fall gardening wisdom presented.
