How Do I Determine Which Hardware or Drivers Are Crashing My Vista?

    • 1). Click "Start," type "Perfmon" into the search box at the bottom of the Start menu and click the "Perfmon" shortcut that appears at the top of the Start menu.

    • 2). Expand the "Monitoring Tools" folder in the sidebar and select "Reliability Monitor."

    • 3). Select a day a crash occurred by clicking it on the graph. Days with information hardware or operating system failures have an "X" icon in the Hardware Failures or Windows Failures rows below them.

    • 4). Expand the "Hardware Failures" or "Windows Failures" section in the System Stability Report section below the graph by clicking it.

    • 5). Read the information about the crash available in the System Stability Report section.
