Here are 5 natural remedies for acne which I have found to be useful:
- Tea tree oil - This organic extract has a lot of health benefits that can be utilized.
The oil has the same effect as that of the benzoyl peroxide that is often used to treat acne.
The tea tree oil eliminates the bacteria that causes acne and also relieves inflammation.
All you have to do is apply the oil to your face then rinse with a mild facial cleanser.
For best results, do this twice a day.
- Lemon juice - Drinking lemon juice will help you to detoxify your body and eliminate the free radicals that cause acne infections.
You do not have to drink pure lemon juice but rather you can just add a drop of it to your water and drink it plainly.
You should also consume at least 8 glasses of water a day because it helps in cleansing your body.
- Oatmeal - This can be used as a mask using cooked (luke warm) oatmeal, applied to your face and left to dry - then wash off with warm water.
Alternatively you can make up a facial scrub using raw finely ground oatmeal (known as colloidal oatmeal) - mix with a small amount of warm water and rub gently onto the affected areas.
This is great for acne, but will also works wonders for your skin in general as it cleanses and makes it softer.
- Garlic - Due to the powerful effects of garlic, it makes it a great natural remedy for treating acne.
All you have to do is to rub the garlic on your acne and the components of the garlic will kill the acne bacteria.
You don't need to use a lot of garlic, and generally use this method when you are planning on staying at home as the odour will tend to stay on your skin for quite a while after application.
- Orange peelings - By creating a paste made of orange peelings and water, you can relieve swelling brought about by inflammation due to acne.
All you need to do is to apply the paste on your face and let it stay for at least thirty minutes.
After that, you can use lukewarm water to rinse your face.
