How to Weave & Braid Children's Bracelets
- 1). Measure and cut three strands of thread or yarn, each 24 inches long.
- 2). Knot them together at one end.
- 3). Attach the knotted end to something to keep it steady. You can tie it to a chair or, even easier, tape it to the table or a book.
- 4). Braid the three strands together in the basic braiding technique.
- 5). Knot the ends together once you have reached the end of the threads.
- 6). Loop the strand around and tie the two ends together, creating a bracelet.
- 1). Measure and cut three strands of thread or yarn, each 24 inches long.
- 2). Knot them together at one end and tape that end to a table.
- 3). Twist the three strands around and around--it will shrink as you twist--until it is about 17 inches long.
- 4). Put your finger in the middle of the strand and fold it over.
- 5). Take your finger out and tie the two ends, which are now next to each other, together.
- 1). Measure and cut six strands of different-colored thread or yarn, each 24 inches long.
- 2). Knot them all together at one end and tape that end to a table.
- 3). Lay out all the colors side by side.
- 4). Pick up the first strand on the left and knot it around the second strand right at the top. Do this twice.
- 5). Take that same first strand and knot it around the third strand two times. Continue this until the first strand is at the far right of the bracelet and is, in essence, the last strand.
- 1). Pick up the first strand on the far left, which was originally your second string. Knot it two times around the new second strand. Do it directly under the previous knots. If you leave space, the bracelet will not look woven, it will simply look like you put a lot of knots in it.
- 2). Repeat this process all the way across and all the way down to the bottom of the strands, weaving the new "first" strand at each round of knotting
- 3). When you get to the bottom of the threads, tie them all together in one big knot to secure the piece.
- 4). Wrap the bracelet around your wrist and knot it.
