    • 1). Measure the area from 4 inches above the window to the length you want your curtain from the floor.

    • 2). Measure your curtain rod. Make sure it extends 3 to 4 inches beyond both sides of the window.

    • 3). Install the rod mounts that came in the set by following the set's instructions.

    • 4). Measure your fabric to the width of the curtain rod.

    • 5). Using the length measured previously, add 4 inches for the lower hem and 3 inches for the top hem of the fabric. Then carefully measure to the center of the fabric on the top and bottom hems and cut exactly in half. This becomes the two panels of your drapes.

    • 6). Fold the lower edge (the bottom) of the fabric over toward the back of the fabric by 2 inches. Press with iron, pin in place and stitch along the fold.

    • 7). Fold the upper edge (the top) of the fabric over toward the back of the fabric by 1 inch (the side that will face the window). One inch below this fold, pin a strip of pleating tape that will run across the length of the top.

    • 8). Trim 1 inch off both sides of the tape and stitch the tape along its top and bottom edges.

    • 9). Stitch along the 1 inch fold above the tape to create a more finished-looking edge.

Fold the four side panels 1 inch toward the wrong side (the side facing the window). Press, pin and stitch the sides. Trim any loose threads, then iron.

Pull the strings on the pleating tape slowly until you are pleased with the number and arrangement of pleats. Tie the ends of the strings securely.

Hang curtain hooks according to instructions on the package. Use one hook for every two pleats.
