How to Remove Programs That Will Not Remove
- 1). Identify the programs that will not remove with traditional uninstallers.
Try the uninstallers in this order:
Windows uninstaller (found in the control panel Add/Remove programs or Programs)
Software-specific uninstaller (some software provides its own uninstaller)
Third-party uninstall software (programs like Revo, Uninstaller Pro, etc.) if you have any. - 2). Press Control+Alt+Delete and access the Task Manager. Go to the Processes tab. Click on the User Name column (this will sort the list of processes), and maximize the Task Manager window.
- 3). Check each item on the list to find a match for the program that you are trying to uninstall. You can skip all the items marked as "system." Look for names similar to the program that you would like to remove (for example if your program is called 3D Designer, look for 3ddsgn, or 3design, etc).
- 4). Make a list on your notepad of the possible names for processes related to the program.
- 5). Right-click on the first process in your list. Choose the option that says End Process Tree. Your computer will ask you if you want to proceed. Click on Yes.
- 6). Right-click the icon of the program (located on your desktop), and select Properties. Click on the General tab and copy down the information under Location. Highlight this information and copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl + C ).
- 7). Launch your My Computer and paste the information copied on the horizontal bar (use Ctrl + V), and press Enter.
- 8). Select all the files and folder in this location and press the Delete key. If your computer asks you to proceed, click Yes.
- 9). Repeat all steps starting at Step 5 if the computer does not let you delete the files. This time go to the second item on your list. Keep repeating this procedure until you stop the right process and erase the matching files.
