Growth Process of a Pinto Bean
- Pinto bean seedling
It takes 75 to 90 days from planting a pinto bean seed to reach harvesting stage. Within the first four to eight days, a planted pinto bean will begin to germinate, or sprout a seedling. This is the earliest sign that the bean is no longer dormant and is growing into a plant. - From the eighth day to the end of the first month, the pinto plant will grow quickly, gaining height and sprouting leaves. A pinto plant will grow up if you tie it and train it, so tie it to stakes or lattice at this stage.
- After the first month passes, there will be an approximately eight-day period of budding. The plant will begin flowering and sprouting bean pods for the following 10 days to two weeks.
- Anywhere from 40 to 50 days after germination, the bean pods will continue to grow and will produce mature pods. This process will continue for close to three weeks.
