How to Hook Up a TV for Reception
- 1). Find the video source coaxial cable that comes out of your wall near the baseboard. Some residences like dormitory rooms may have an identifiable wall plate with a cable port from the video source instead. Screw a coaxial cable into this port if you have a wall plate.
- 2). Screw the other end of the cable into the 'input" jack on the back of your cable or satellite provider's decoding box. Screw a patch cable into the "output" on the back of this box.
- 3). Screw the other end of that cable into the "input" jack of your DVD, VCR or DVR. Screw a patch cable into the "output" jack from that device.
- 4). Attach the other end of that cable into the input jack on your television.
- 5). Turn on your television and tune to the correct input channel, such as channel two or three, then tune your television through your cable or satellite provider's decoding box using the directions supplied by your cable or satellite provider.
- 6). Tune most televisions with the most common television providers by selecting the decoder box option on your remote control then select either the "on screen menu" or push the numbers on your remote control entry pad that correspond to the channel you want to watch.
- 7). Press "Enter" when the channel you want to watch is highlighted on the on screen menu to view that channel.
