Enrollment Requirements

• You are required to have technical education. To enroll for a mechanical engineering degree, you need to complete a year of trigonometry and two years of algebra. You are also required to complete a year of physics and chemistry. If you did not take the required subjects in high school, you can take bridging courses at the university you are enrolling at to prepare you for an engineering curriculum.
  
  

Degree Courses

• The mechanical engineering degree can take four or five years to complete and in each year, you are expected to complete certain courses. Some of the courses you are required to take include calculus, general chemistry, introduction to mechanical engineering, mechanics, computer-aided design, electricity and magnetism, and engineering statics.
  
  

Certification

• There are three levels of die casting certification: certified die casting technician, master of die casting maintenance and master of die casting technology. Some of the courses that are covered in the die casting professional certification include die casting lubricants and coolants, engineering die casting dies, computer modeling and die casting machine safety. Each certification is valid for three years.
  
  

Continuing Education

• After completing a mechanical engineering degree and acquiring professional die casting certification, mechanical engineers are expected to take more courses as they progress in their career. Various developments take place in the mechanical engineering field and professionals are required to acquire new skills and knowledge to enhance their job performance.
