I met Cicely at the Mendocino Coast Humane Society 7 years ago. At just 76 pounds, she was a skinny, and scared Harlequin ghost who desperately wanted to find someone to love her. I fell in love with those glacier blue eyes and holstein hide.
I took her home to meet the rest of our gang (5 dogs, 3 cats, & numerous farm animals), and it became apparant that Cicely had never been socialized to either dogs or people.

She was 3 years old when I acquired her; had been kept in an upstairs bedroom and never house broke.

After weeks of working with Cis, I eventually got her house broken, then it was onto her dog aggression problems. She saw herself as the alfa female, and several dog fights occured before she finally learned she didn't have to be the top dog.

Cicely has been such a wonderful companion to me, especially when she wraps her big head and neck around my shoulder as if she were giving me a hug. At age 10 she still looks like a 3 year old. She goes everywhere with me, including work. I am fortunate enough to work in a veterinary hospital where I am allowed to bring her to work with me. I know that one day I will have to say goodbye, but I am a better person for having had Cicely in my life.
