    Stitch Instructions

    • 1). Loop the ends of two skeins of yarn around the tip of your crochet hook together to start the project. Catch the yarn on the side with the hook, and pull the yarn through the loop.

    • 2). Create a chain stitch by looping the yarn around the needle tip and pulling the yarn through the loop on the needle. Only one loop will remain on the needle.

    • 3). Make a treble stitch by wrapping the yarn around the tip of the needle two times, and sliding the hook into the stitch you're working in. Go under the top two pieces of yarn, catch the yarn, and pull it through the first two loops. Wrap the yarn around the needle, and pull the yarn through the next two loops. Wrap the yarn around the needle, and pull it through the last two loops.

    Making the Front

    • 1). Start the chain using the ends of two skeins of yarn. The doubled yarn keeps the dress from having large open holes, and makes it faster for stitching. Chain 27 stitches and check the length of the chain. Chain more stitches, if necessary, to reach 18 inches, or remove stitches if the chain is too long. This is the first row.

    • 2). Chain two extra stitches on the first row, turn your work, and make a treble crochet stitch into the second stitch back from the end of the row. Make a treble crochet stitch into each chain stitch all the way across the row.

    • 3). Make two chain stitches at the end of the row, turn your work, and make a treble stitch into the second stitch. Make treble stitches all the way across the row. Continue this pattern until you have a rectangle measuring 18 inches wide by 56 inches long. The exact amount of rows depends on the tension of your stitches. Measure when you reach 75 rows, and then check every five rows until you reach 56 inches long.

    Making the Back

    • 1). Start the chain using the ends of two skeins of yarn. Chain 14 stitches and check the length of the chain. The chain should measure 9 inches long. Add chains or remove chains as necessary until you reach 9 inches.

Continue this pattern until you have a rectangle measuring 9 inches wide by 56 inches long. The exact amount of rows depends on the tension of your stitches. Measure when you reach 75 rows, and then check every five rows until you reach 56 inches long. Make a second identical piece for the second side of the back of the dress.

    Sewing/Finishing the Dress

    • 1). Lay one of the backing pieces on a flat surface. Place the second back piece on top, and line up the edges. Thread a yarn needle with yarn, tie a knot (any kind) and sew the pieces together. Start at the center of one of the 56-inch-long sides, and run the yarn through one of the stitches. Slide the needle through the yarn threaded through the needle right under the knot. Pull it tight, and it creates a slip knot on the back of the dress. Start sewing 28 inches from the top, and go all the way to the bottom of that side. Cut the yarn leaving at least 6 inches of excess yarn, and knot it on the bottom of the dress. Weave the leftover yarn into the dress using the crochet hook, so the ends disappear into the dress.

    • 2). Put the front of the dress on a flat surface, and lay the back piece on top with the sewn side facing up. Sew the dress sides using the same technique as the previous step, but start sewing 14 inches from the top. Go all the way down to the bottom, and repeat the procedure on the other side.

    • 3). Measure 6 inches from the top and sew a 2-inch space. Repeat this procedure on the other side. This creates the neckline and the armholes.

    • 4). Attach four buttons up the open area of the back on the right side. Space the buttons 4 inches apart starting from the top.
