What Can I Put on My Lace Wig to Make It Shine?
- Wash your lace front wig with sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. The majority of lace wigs are made of human hair and thus need regular washing. Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner removes product buildup that prevents it from looking shiny. Take the lace front wig off of your head and wash it in a sink or by holding it in the shower. Rinse the hair with warm water to remove the shampoo and conditioner. Follow with a cool water rinse for increased shine.
- Keep a lace front moisturized by deep conditioning it at least once a week. Choose a deep conditioner with ingredients such as shea butter. Slather the deep conditioner on the wig and leave it for 15 to 30 minutes before rinsing it out. If your wig becomes tangled easily, comb the deep conditioner through the hair.
- Apply a shine treatment on your wig to keep it supple and shiny on a day-to-day basis. Choose a shine serum that you run through the lace front or a shine spray. Apply a small amount, as you do not want your wig to look greasy. Use a shine treatment that contains sunscreen, if possible.
- Hairspray, gel and mousse can all build up in your wig's hair, making it dull and leaving flakes that decrease its shine. Along with washing your lace front wig regularly, use light-hold styling products.
