How to Change Where the Files Install on Windows Vista
- 1). Click an installation file for an application to start the installation routine on a Windows Vista system. The Welcome screen should launch.
- 2). Click "Install" or "Next" to start the installation routine. Often, a Terms of Service agreement appears.
- 3). Click "Yes" or "I Agree" to agree to the Terms of Service. The next screen usually displays the default path where the files will be installed.
- 4). Click the downward pointing arrow on the right of the path input box, or click the "Browse" button if one is provided.
- 5). Type the new path for the installation files, or if the Browse button is used, navigate to a new location where the files will be installed. At this point, you may type a new name for the installation directory to create the new location.
- 6). Press "Next" and continue with the installation. Click "Finish" when the installation is complete. The location of the installation files has been changed in Vista.
