How to Replace an LG Dare LCD
- 1). Turn the LG Dare over and remove the battery cover in the middle of the phone by gently pushing it down and sliding it out. Lift the square battery out of its bay with your fingers.
- 2). Remove the six screws on the back of the Dare with your Phillips screwdriver. Four of the screws are located on each corner and the other two are located in the middle on either side of the phone.
- 3). Insert the tip of your plastic pry tool (available at any electronics store or included with your replacement LCD screen) in the seam between the front and back housing of the Dare. Work your way around the sides of the Dare until the back housing pops off.
- 4). Pop the three thick brown flex cables on the bottom corner of the exposed motherboard with your plastic pry tool. They should pop up with little force. The motherboard will now be loose from the front housing.
- 5). Insert your plastic pry tool between the motherboard and front housing and gently pull up to remove it. Set the motherboard aside. Peel the thin black strip of adhesive off of the bottom of the front housing with your pry tool.
- 6). Remove the frame from the LCD by inserting your pry tool in the seam and gently prying the LCD out of the frame.
- 7). Place your new LCD (available at your LG retailer or online) in the frame and fit into place by gently pressing down on each of the corners to secure it. Reassemble your phone in the reverse order you took it apart and you will have a brand new LCD in your LG Dare.
