How to Create Family Stick Figure Decals
- 1). Design your decal, using your favorite graphics software. If you choose a colored font or design, make certain the color will show up on the application surface. You may want a white ink for back windshields. Black works best on most solid color surfaces. Save your image to your computer.
- 2). Insert the water slide decal paper designed for your printer and print out the stick family decal you designed. Use care when handling the printed decal paper to avoid spoiling the image.
- 3). Spray the printed side of the water slide decal paper with a light coat of acrylic spray. Allow the first coat to dry for about 30 seconds. Apply a second coat in the opposite direction. Again, let this coat dry for 30 seconds and then apply a third coat. Let the decal paper dry for three hours.
- 4). Wash the surface on which you want the decal. Leave the surface wet for the decal application. This lets you move the decal into place once it is put on the surface. Water-slide decals stick to most surfaces.
- 5). Slide the decal into a tub of water for about one or two minutes. Remove the decal paper from the water and place the decal paper-side to the application surface. Slide the decal off the paper and onto the surface. Slide the decal into the desired position. Gently wipe with a soft cloth to remove any air bubbles. Let the decal dry completely onto the surface.
