Simple Pleasures, Simplicity For the New Year
"As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.
"-Henry David Thoreau- As we review back on 2007 we become aware, if we have not already, that there is a trend or even better put a pushing to simplify our lives.
For so long it was the trend to get and then get even more, then huge events happened nationwide to show us that we could do with actually very little and all that "stuff" was in fact weighing us down and becoming burdensome.
Here we see by this quote that Henry David Thoreau had the right idea years and years ago, and it so true.
Have you ever thought, to go to the forest alone or the desert alone; you just really did not want to go alone, you did not want that solitude.
Then the inner stirring came up and would not go away, so you just went ahead and did it.
Out to the wilderness you went, alone, just with nature and the sounds of nature to keep you company.
When you got there and got use to the peace, quiet and "solitude", it was just like Henry said, it was not solitude at all it was wonderful, fulfilling and spiritual.
You probably asked yourself why you had not done this before and started planning on your next outing to do it again.
Now if you have not done this, I challenge you to do it soon in 2008 and feel the joy of solitude.
Poverty and weakness are mental attitudes, as I know people with little money that do not live in poverty as they enjoy every thing that is in abundance in their lives.
There are also people that their body temple is experiencing disease and they are grateful and happy and do not live in weakness of the mind or spirit.
In this wonderful New Year, with all if it's possibilities, let's embrace solitude and release any thoughts of poverty or weakness with total empowerment and gratefulness.
