How to Grow a Snowball Bush
- 1). Mix ample compost into the soil until it feels crumbly to the touch. The snowball bush thrives in moist, fertile soil that is well-draining.
- 2). Dig a hole twice as large as the shrub's root system. Place the snowball bush into the hole. Plant the shrub at the same soil level as its previous nursery container.
- 3). Water the snowball shrub well. Keep the bush moist but not waterlogged.
- 4). Apply 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the base of the shrub. The mulch reduces weed growth and keeps the soil moist in the height of summer.
- 5). Prune the snowball bush after flowering has ceased. Prune the shrub to reduce its size, tidy its appearance or to remove dead branches.
- 6). Fertilize the snowball bush in the spring using a general-purpose fertilizer. Follow the directions on the label for application.
