How to Use the Repair Feature on Windows XP Home
- 1). Insert your Windows XP Installation disc into the CD drive.
- 2). Restart the computer. Watch the monitor carefully as it reboots.
- 3). Press any key when you see "Press any key to boot from the CD" appear on the screen. If you miss that message, turn off the computer and try it again. After pressing a key, a Welcome to Setup screen will open.
- 4). Press "Enter." A licensing agreement screen will open.
- 5). Press "F8" to continue. You will see a screen showing the operating systems that you have installed. If you only have XP Home installed, you will only see that operating system in the list.
- 6). Use the up and down arrow keys to select "XP Home" and press "R."
- 7). Windows will begin the repair process. When it finishes, your computer will reboot. Verify that your problems are resolved.
