    Using a Gift Card with an Existing iTunes Account

    • 1). Open iTunes on your computer. Click "iTunes Store" in the left panel of the iTunes window.

    • 2). Click the "Sign In" button in the top right corner of the iTunes window. If you are already signed in, and your Apple ID is displayed instead of "Sign In," skip the next step.

    • 3). Enter your Apple ID and password.

    • 4). Click "Redeem" in the "Quick Links" section in the right column of the iTunes Store. Then select "Redeem."

    • 5). Scratch the back of your iTunes gift card to reveal a 16-digit code. Type this code into the redeem window. Then click "Redeem." The amount of your gift card is credited to your account.

    Using a Gift Card and Creating an iTunes Account

    • 1). Download and install the most recent version of iTunes on your computer if you've never used iTunes before.

    • 2). Open iTunes. Click "iTunes Store" on the left of the iTunes window.

    • 3). Click the "Sign In" button in the top right corner of the iTunes window. Then click "Redeem" in the "Quick Links" section on the right side of the iTunes Store.

    • 4). Scratch the back of your iTunes gift card to reveal a 16-digit code. Type this code into the redeem window. Then click "Redeem." A new window opens for you to create an iTunes account.

    • 5). Enter the information requested to create an iTunes account, including your name, email address and a password. It is not necessary to enter a credit card number. The amount of your gift card is automatically be added to your new iTunes account.

    Putting Songs on Your iPod

    • 1). Browse the iTunes store and select the songs you want. The price of each song or album is listed on the "Buy" button.

    • 2). Click the "Buy" button beside any song you want to purchase. Enter your password in the pop-up window. The song then downloads to your iTunes library.

    • 3). Connect the iPod to your computer. Wait for iTunes to automatically sync to your iPod. The new song transfers to your iPod during the sync process.
