How to Decorate a Room With a Music Theme
- 1). Select a deep wall color, such as an eggplant purple or a midnight blue, to represent the deep bass notes in music. The dark color will anchor the room and provide a frame for light artwork and furnishings. Add depth and texture to the wall color with the addition of a metallic or brushed suede glaze.
- 2). Select all white furniture, such as a textured white couch for a living room or a padded, white head board and bedding for a bedroom. Add black throw pillows to create a decorative look reminiscent of piano keys.
- 3). Shop antique stores and flea markets for aged, original sheet music to be framed as artwork. Also pick up vintage black-and-white concert photos of bands performing and photographs of favorite classic performers, such as Frank Sinatra or Jimi Hendrix. Glue piano keys around the frame of a round mirror or a retro 1940s microphone to display as a sculpture or use as a bookend. Check online auction websites for guitars or drums signed by famous musicians to display in the room. Repurpose music equipment as furniture solutions, such as incorporating vintage amps or glossy black piano benches as end tables.
