How to Clean an Above Ground Pool Liner
- 1). Drain the pool by using a drain hose and submersible pump. Place the pump near the center of the swimming pool, connect it to the drain hose and turn on the pump. This will pump the water out of the pool. If possible, direct the water toward a sewer or neighborhood street to drain.
- 2). Fill a gallon bucket with water and add one tbsp. of liquid dish soap. Stir around the water until it becomes soapy. The formula is one tbsp. of dish soap per gallon of water.
- 3). Get into the empty swimming pool and use a soft sponge to clean the liner with the dish soap solution. Do not scrub too hard, because you could damage the liner.
- 4). Clean the liner in sections. After cleaning each section, rinse the cleanser away by using water from a garden hose.
- 5). Rinse the entire swimming pool with a garden hose. Make sure you rinse all noticeable soap suds away.
- 6). Place the submersible pump in the middle of the pool and attach the drain hose to it. Drain the rinse water that has accumulated at the bottom of the swimming pool.
- 7). Refill the swimming pool to the correct depth. Turn on the filter and allow it to run for at least two days before adding chlorine or other chemicals. The filter will ensure that the water is clean and free from any leftover liquid dish soap.
