How to Customize Moleskine
- 1). Add weight and style to your notebook with a heavy, textured cover. Cut out patterns and designs in decorative paper or fabric and attach to your Moleskine with a strong craft glue. Consider such materials as batiked wax paper, velvet fabric, vinyl or other unusual textures.
- 2). Create simple debossed designs by using a metal cookie cutter and a hammer. The term "debossed" means to create an indented design, the opposite of embossed. Place a cookie cutter or other similar metallic design shape with sharp edges on your notebook cover and hold firmly in place. Gently hammer the cookie cutter shape into the notebook cover, making sure to hit all areas. Use a hammer with a wide head or a mallet in order to spread out the force of your hammering equally to create a uniform design.
- 3). Add a penholder to the front of your Moleskine with a long fabric or vinyl band that wraps around the front cover like a belt. Add a long pocket to the front that has enough room for a pen or two. You can slide your band over the front cover or cinch and attach it closed by sewing or gluing it together on the inside cover.
- 4). Add sections to your Moleskine by gluing small pieces of thick, colored paper as tabs that hang out the side of the notebook. Create as many sections as you wish, and label them as desired using stickers or a sharpie. You can choose to modify your Moleskine with cascading tabs that form a diagonal line against the pages when viewed from the side, or mix it up and add tabs according to your own pattern.
- 5). Paste simple cut-out designs, pictures, drawings or stickers at various points throughout your Moleskine to add variety to the pages. You can also use page decorations to further separate different sections.
