How to Print From a Vista Laptop to a Vista Desktop
- 1). Connect both the laptop and the desktop to the router by connecting an Ethernet cable to the network port on the back of the computer and the other end to the ports on the back of the router.
- 2). Open the "Start" menu on the desktop, open the "Control Panel," and open the "Network and Sharing Center."
- 3). Select the option to "Set Up a Network." Enable the file and print sharing options by checking off the respective boxes, and assign the computer to the workgroup "PRINTSHARE."
- 4). Open the "Start" menu on the desktop, select the "Control Panel," open the "Printers" menu, right click on your installed printer and select the "Share" option. Check the box to "Share this Printer."
- 5). Repeat step 3 on the laptop, but select the option to "Connect to a Network" instead of "Set Up a Network."
- 6). Reboot both computers.
- 7). Open the "Start" menu on the laptop, open the "Control Panel" and open the "Printers" menu.
- 8). Select the option to "Add Printer." Select the option to add a "Network Printer," and choose the printer connected to the desktop from the onscreen list of available printers.
