How to Install a Ported Speaker Box on a 1992 S10 Club Cab
- 1). Select a location for the ported box to be installed. Installing the box consists largely of selecting a location and placing the box there. If the box is in the bed, then it can be placed on a nonskid liner next to the back of the cab. This will prevent the box from moving around. If the box is in the cab, then the size of the box determines where the box will be placed. Generally, boxes in the cab will not be attached in any way to the cab and will just rest in it.
- 2). Connect a component audio cable to the receiver's "Subwoofer/Pre-Amp Outs." Run this cable to the amplifier. The amplifier can be mounted on the box by screwing it in. This is common in many installations. Alternatively, the amplifier can be mounted under the passenger seat. The amplifier can be screwed into the carpeting under the seat. Tuck the cables under the carpet and run them to the receiver.
- 3). Plug the other end of the component audio cable into the amplifier's "Audio In" connectors.
- 4). Connect two speaker wires to the positive and negative speaker out terminals on the amplifier.
- 5). Run the speaker wires to the ported box.
- 6). Connect the speaker wires to the subwoofer. Ported boxes usually have a power terminal at the back of the enclosure. Plug the positive wire into the positive terminal and the negative wire into negative terminal.
- 7). Connect two power wires to the amplifier's +12 volt power and ground terminals. Run these wires to the truck's battery.
- 8). Connect the ground wire to the ground terminal on the battery. Connect the positive power wire to the positive power terminal on the battery.
- 9). Turn on the car and test out the installation.
