How to Send Fresh Flowers

    • 1). Conduct an online search for floral companies, or ask a friend if he's used one he'd recommend. There are plenty of options, including FTD, 1-800-FLOWERS, ProFlowers and Teleflora. Some offer same-day delivery.

    • 2). Browse the options and choose the company that best fits your recipient's style, the message you want to convey and your budget.

Think about whether you want the arrangement to arrive already in a vase. Some companies, such as ProFlowers, send the flowers and vase, but the recipient cuts the flowers and arranges them as she'd like.

    • 3). Choose an arrangement and vase. Companies sometimes offer a free vase that comes with your arrangement, or you might choose, for instance, a square-shaped vase or a larger or colored vase for an extra fee.

Most companies also have toll-free phone numbers to call if you have unreliable Internet access or would simply rather handle it by phone.

    • 4). Decide if you want to throw in any extras, such as a teddy bear or greeting card; if so, select these as well. If you choose a card, enter the information you want on the card, or dictate it to the person handling your call, if you place your order by phone.

    • 5). Provide pertinent delivery information, such as your recipient's name and address and the delivery date. The website also may ask if the flowers will go to a workplace, and ask when you'd like your arrangement to arrive.

    • 6). Enter your billing information when asked.

    • 7). Check over the order to ensure it's correct, then place your order.
