The different learning styles

Auditory: An auditory learning style means that you are receptive and sensitive to sound. These learners show a greater tendency to learn through listening, or hearing. In the case of studies, it could be either by listening to lectures or reading aloud: the chapter or topic, or a portion of text, which has to be memorized.

Visual: What they see, is what they believe is more or less the keystone principle of visual learners. As the name suggests, these kinds of learners chiefly use visuals to understand. For instance, let us assume that you are studying polynomial functions in your distance MCA subject, graphical analysis or diagrams will help you understand the concepts better, if you are a visual learner.

Some of the characteristics of visual learners cover:

1) Sign-language understanding

2) Colours, charts and diagrams interpretation

3) Prefers quite study-time

4) Cannot absorb from listening (lectures and sorts) immediately

Kinaesthetic: These types of leaners are hands-on with whatever they desire to learn. Be it an experiment of science or a theory in mathematics, they need to experience the learning process through different avenues: building models, role-playing, etc.

Some of the characteristics of kinaesthetic learners cover:

1) Good at model building

2) Sports-activities

3) Dramatics/dance engagement

4) Background activity (in the way of music) while studying

A characteristic learning style doesnt hinder the possibilities of learning through the other channels. You could take initiatives to open up these channels, by consistently stimulating them. While at the same time, identifying your strongest and stable mode of learning, will help maximize your potential and excel in you subject of study.
