How to Configure an AOL Account on a BlackBerry
- 1). Log into your BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) site, which is normally the same thing as logging into your mobile service provider's site. For example, if you have a contract with T-Mobile, you would go to www.t-mobile.com and put in your telephone number and password to log in.
- 2). Click the option to add an existing email address. Enter the email address and the password to your AOL account. Enter the password again to verify that it is correct.
- 3). Most BIS servers will try to automatically input the AOL account settings. If it's successful, you will receive a confirmation message. If it isn't, you will see a message that tells you to input the settings manually. The incoming mail server for an AOL account is "imap.aol.com" with no security encryption and on the 143 port. Under the outgoing server, you will need to input "smtp. aol.com." There is no security encryption, but you need to choose "Yes" under security authentication. The port number is 587.
