How to Explain Optical Zoom Digital Cameras
- 1). Power on the digital camera. You are unable to adjust the optical zoom on a digital camera while the power is off.
- 2). Remove the lens cap from the digital camera. The content appears on the LCD screen found on the rear of the camera.
- 3). Press down on the "Zoom In" button of the digital camera. If the camera is an SLR camera you can turn the lens clockwise (while aiming the camera) to increase the zoom. A set of moving glass lenses focus to increase the image size. The larger the zoom capabilities, the more glass elements are used in the camera lens.
- 4). Push down on the "Zoom Out" button, or turn the camera lens counter-clockwise to zoom out of the image. The lens elements in the camera move away from the shutter of the camera, reducing the magnification of the image.
