How to Sew a Envelope Style Pillow Case
- 1). Measure the width of your pillow with your ruler. Add 1 inch to the width measurement.
- 2). Measure the height of your pillow with your ruler and multiply that measurement by 2 1/2.
- 3). Cut your fabric to match the height and width you were asked to measure.
- 4). Turn your fabric to have one of the width sides facing you.
- 5). Fold the fabric 1/3 of the way up to the top of the fabric.
- 6). Fold the same edge toward you about 1/3 of the way to the bottom of the fabric and pin it into place.
- 7). Sew a hem just above where you just pinned the fabric together and tie a knot in the thread when you finish. Sew all the way across but do not sew both sides of the fabric together. There should still be a loose piece of fabric underneath the part you just sewed.
- 8). Grasp the other width side of the fabric and fold it towards you to match the first width end of the fabric.
- 9). Fold the raw edge of the side you just folded down back up 1/2-inch and pin it in place.

Sew a hem slightly above where you just pinned the fabric. Sew it all the way across and tie a knot in the thread when finished. Do not sew the other side of the fabric together with this piece. There should be the piece you just sewed and another piece of fabric loose underneath it. - 11
Turn the pillow case to one of the sides that were measured as the height of the pillow. Pin the both sides of the fabric together. - 12
Sew the two sides of the fabric together about 1/2-inch away from the raw edge of the fabric. - 13
Turn the side that was measured as the height of the pillowcase towards you. Pin the fabric together about 1/2-inch away from the edge of the raw edge. - 14
Sew the side shut and remove any pins that are still pinned in the fabric. - 15
Turn the pillowcase right side out and slide your pillow inside.
