How to Hide a Windows XP Installation

    • 1). Restart your computer. Wait for the list of operating systems to appear and navigate to the option for an operating system other than Windows XP, such as "Windows Vista" or "Windows 7."

    • 2). Press "Enter" to load the selected operating system. Sign into your administrative account normally by clicking the icon for your account and typing your password.

    • 3). Access the Windows "Start" menu and choose "Control Panel." Click the "System and Maintenance" link in Windows Vista, or choose "System and Security" if your computer is running Windows 7.

    • 4). Click the link labeled "System." Select the "Advanced System Settings" option at the far left end of the window. Click "Continue" if your computer runs Windows Vista.

    • 5). Navigate to the "Advanced" tab. Click the "Settings" button underneath the "Startup and Recovery" heading.

    • 6). Select the "Default Operating System" drop-down box and click one of the operating systems other than Windows XP. Remove the check from the checkbox labeled "Time to Display List of Operating Systems."

    • 7). Click "OK" and choose "OK" again to prevent the Windows XP installation from appearing when your computer boots up.
