How to Clean Sliding Glass Doors to an Apartment or Condo
- 1). Open your glass door all the way. Use a vacuum cleaner with a wand attachment to suck dirt and debris from the track.
- 2). Close the door. Now you are ready to clean the glass. Use a commercially sold glass cleaner or make up your own. If you choose to make your own, you can use the following recipe from Mrs. Clean USA: pour 1 cup of rubbing alcohol, 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water into a spray bottle. Shake it up to mix the ingredients.
- 3). Put on rubber gloves. Spray the cleaner all over one side (interior or exterior) of the glass, covering it completely. Use a lint-free cloth to wipe the cleaner, starting from the top of the glass and moving down using vertical strokes.
- 4). Spray the glass again, covering it. Use a clean squeegee on the glass. This helps minimize streaks. Repeat the same process on the other side of the glass.
- 5). Mix ½ teaspoon of liquid dish detergent in a bowl with a cup of warm water. Open the sliding glass door again. Dip a sponge or a bottle brush into this solution and clean the sliding track.
- 6). Rinse out the sponge or bottle brush and wipe it over the track again to remove excess cleaner. Follow this with a dry, lint-free cloth. Now, spray lubricant into the track, as suggested by Mrs. Clean USA. You can buy it in hardware and home improvement stores.
